Kadena Air Base – Okinawa, Japan

Kadena Air Base is an essential part of America’s military presence in the Pacific since before the end of World War II. Kadena is home to the United States Air Force’s largest combat wing—the 18th Wing—and associated units. Team Kadena includes nearly 18,000 Americans and more than 4,000 Japanese employees and contractors. The base’s runways have hosted operations ranging from the F-86 Sabre of the Korean conflict and the legendary SR-71 Blackbird spy plane, to today’s contingent of fighters, tankers, cargo, reconnaissance and rescue aircraft. In addition, more than 650 arrivals and departures move passengers and cargo through Kadena every month.
