Bangkok International Airport – Samut Prakan, Thailand

Also known as Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok International (BKK) is located on what once was called Nong Nguhao (Cobra Swamp). Located 16 miles (25 km) east of downtown, BKK is the regional gateway and main hub for three airlines. BKK is home to the world tallest freestanding control tower (434 ft or 132.2 m) and hosts the world’s fourth largest single-building airport terminal (6,060,000 sq ft or 563,000 sq m). The Sky Lane, a one-way 14.6-mile (23.5 km) track exclusively for bicycles, extends around the airport’s perimeter. A major hub for passengers and cargo, Bangkok International handles operations of 95 airlines and welcomed nearly 56 million travelers in 2016 alone.
