Amazon Wind Farm – Snyder, Texas

In western Texas, 12,000 people call Snyder home. Snyder’s economy is driven by energy – specifically oil, gas and wind. This area of Scurry County hosts the largest, most productive oilfield in the US, a portion of the fourth largest wind farms in the nation and Amazon Wind Farm Texas.

Owned and operated by Lincoln Clean Energy, Amazon Wind Farm Texas includes more than 100 wind turbines capable of generating 1,000,000-megawatt hours of wind energy annually. While that’s enough energy to power 90,000 US homes, Amazon committed to purchasing 90% of the farm’s output to power their operations.

The christening of the wind farm in October 2017 marks Amazon’s 18th renewable energy project, and they have 35 more in the works. Amazon’s long-term goal is to power their global operations with renewable energy.
