FRANKLIN, TN – May 15, 2008 – Flash Technology, a division of SPX Corporation (NYSE:SPW), today announced the availability of the FTB 360i, the most advanced LED L-864 type aviation obstruction lighting system available for the wind energy market.

Flash Technology developed the FTB 360i in response to customer interviews, which identified several unmet marketplace needs for wind turbine lighting products. These interviews revealed a need for a tightly focused light beam, status indicators to convey real time operating information, and an efficient, compact design for easy installation and longer life.  The FTB 360i addresses each of these needs, and offers exceptional operating performance compared to similar products currently on the market.

The innovative LED light engine and patented optics used in the FTB 360i were developed in conjunction with Dialight plc, a leading supplier of advanced LED technology for various lighting applications.

The patented optics for the FTB 360i generate a true 3° beam of light, producing the lowest amount of ground scatter of any ETL certified and FAA compliant lighting. The focused beam makes the FTB 360i the most community-friendly obstruction light on the market. LED’s were chosen for this application over strobe and incandescent because of superior energy savings. LED’s are five times more energy efficient than strobes and 25 times more energy efficient than incandescent lighting.

When moving parts are introduced to any lighting system, heat build-up occurs, increasing failure rates. Flash Technology constructed the FTB 360i with no moving parts, giving it a longer lifecycle, and requiring less maintenance.

Early marketplace reaction to the FTB 360i has been strong. “The FTB-360i is being embraced by clients who are working to meet the compliance and liability critical function of FAA lighting required at wind farms,” said Pete Bruce, Business Development Manager for Flash Technology’s wind energy lighting products.  “In my eight years at Flash Technology, our team has developed and released several top shelf products – the FTB-360i is certainly one of the best we have produced.”
